This walking mystery journey traces that story across eight locations in the city centre, from the hilltop where Colonel William Light first pointed across an empty plain in 1836, to the bustling centre where the world gathers under one roof today. Along the way, you will unlock cathedrals, mansions, parliaments, haunted arcades, and the building that Adelaide’s citizens saved from the wrecking ball.
“Light’s City: The Making of Adelaide” is a two to three hour, 4.8km walk through nearly two centuries of ambition, controversy, wealth, and reinvention. Each stop is unlocked by GPS as you arrive, and each narration connects you to the next chapter in the story.
Expect colonial drama, architectural surprises, a ghost or two, and the satisfying feeling of understanding why this particular city feels the way it does. No two walkers experience it the same way, but everyone finishes hungry — and that is by design.
